Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. They provide your Part A and Part B coverage, and most include Part D drug coverage. Many have lower monthly premiums than a Medigap policy plus a drug plan. In exchange, they usually use provider networks and charge copays as you use care. Wellcovered Insurance, a licensed independent agency in Orange City, can compare the plans we represent in your county.
We do not offer every plan available in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options.
Wellcovered Insurance is an independent insurance agency located at 301 N Volusia Ave, Orange City, FL 32763. We are not connected with or endorsed by the U.S. government or the federal Medicare program.
How Medicare Advantage works
- You must have Medicare Part A and Part B, and you keep paying your Part B premium.
- The plan, not Original Medicare, pays your covered claims.
- Plans have an annual out-of-pocket limit for covered Part A and B services.
- Many plans include drug coverage. Some include extra benefits that vary by plan.
- Plan types include HMO and PPO. HMOs generally require in-network doctors; PPOs allow out-of-network care at a higher cost.

Medicare Advantage vs. Original Medicare + Medigap
| Medicare Advantage | Original Medicare + Medigap + Part D | |
|---|---|---|
| Who runs it | Private, Medicare-approved insurer | Federal government (A/B) + private Medigap and Part D insurers |
| Doctors | Usually a network | Any provider in the U.S. that accepts Medicare |
| Monthly premiums | Often lower | Usually higher (Medigap + Part D premiums) |
| Costs when you use care | Copays/coinsurance up to an annual limit | Depends on the Medigap plan; often low and predictable |
| Prior authorization | Common for some services | Generally limited under Original Medicare |
Things Florida residents should check
- Seasonal travel: if you spend part of the year out of state, check how the plan covers out-of-network or non-emergency care while you are away.
- Your doctors and hospitals: confirm they are in the plan’s network for the coming year. Networks can change.
- Switching back later: if you leave Original Medicare for Medicare Advantage and later want a Medigap policy, outside of certain guaranteed issue situations the Medigap company may use medical underwriting. (Source: Medicare.gov)
